Thadene Therese (Roberts) Malone, “Terry”, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2023, at the age of 91 in Centennial, Colorado. She was born on April 30, 1932, in Wichita, Kansas, to Dr. Louis S. and Mary Josephine Roberts.
Terry is survived by her loving husband, William Emmett Malone, and their children: Kevin (Renee) Malone, Maureen Malone, and William E. Malone, Jr. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Louise Tinker of Wichita, Kansas. Terry will be deeply missed by her grandchildren: Courtney (Erik) Malone Schmitt of Houston, Texas, Jeffrey (Catherine) Malone of Richardson, Texas, Daniel (Kate) Malone of Dallas, Texas, Sarah Malone (fiancé Dakota Mitchell) of San Antonio, Texas, and Hailey (Trevor) Bagwell and great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Hudson Bagwell.
Terry was preceded in death by her parents, Louis S. and Mary Josephine Roberts, her brother, Robert “Bob” Roberts (Pam), her sisters, Mary Joanne (Harry) Whelan, and Sophie Adele (Jim) Goethals, as well as her children, Josephine E. Malone, Kelly G. Malone, Kathleen P. Nett and Kathleen’s husband, Douglas Nett.
Terry attended Mt. Carmel Academy in Wichita, Kansas, for her primary and high school education. She attended Webster College in Missouri and Laval University in Quebec, Canada. She loved music and studied both piano and harp. While in the eighth grade, she was gifted a harp by her maternal grandmother, Sophia McDonald. Terry went on to be the lead harpist with the Kansas State Youth Symphony Orchestra and later, the Grand Junction, Colorado Symphony Orchestra.
She married her husband, Emmett, June 20, 1953, and together they raised 6 children. Emmett’s career led them on numerous transfers and moves that saw them live in 10 different states over 25 years. In 1977, they made Centennial, CO their final home, where they were fortunate to be surrounded by many loving and supportive nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to her academic and musical achievements, Terry was actively involved in various organizations. She dedicated her time to Junior League and Welcome Wagon organizations in multiple states, making a positive impact on many communities. Once settled in Centennial, Terry was also a proud and active member of P.E.O. International, where she had the opportunity to inspire and provide scholarship help to numerous young women. She and her husband Emmett, have been devout and active parishioners at St. Thomas More for more than 46 years. Terry was also active in a STM bible study group and valued the deep parish friendships she made over the years.
She will be forever remembered for the devotion she had for seeing that all of her children had opportunities to live full and meaningful lives. She and Emmett were active supporters of Colorado Special Olympics and supported the National Alliance on Mental Illness-Colorado.
Terry will be remembered for her keen sense of humor, her kind heart, dedication to her family, and her passion for helping others. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her legacy will continue to inspire for generations to come.
There will be a rosary and visitation on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at the Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, located at 5303 E. County Line Road, Centennial, CO 80122. The rosary will begin at 5PM with visitation following.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 11AM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. The church is located at 8035 S Quebec St, Englewood, CO 80112. Following the funeral mass, there will be a reception in the Padre restaurant, located on the premises of the church.
Internment is scheduled for 2PM at Chapel Hill Cemetery, which is located behind the Olinger Funeral Home at 6601 S Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121.
