The Chosen

The Chosen | Official Trailer HD

1. It’s Different… In a Good Way

The Chosen is similar to Risen, the excellent faith-based film that followed a Roman military tribune as he encounters the risen Christ. Like that 2016 movie, The Chosen tells stories of radical transformation. But unlike Risen– which used a fictional character as its main character – The Chosen spotlights the real-life men and women who knew Christ. The first four episodes examine Matthew, Peter and Mary Magdalene. We watch their emotions and personalities develop, from one episode to the next.

“We have the time to really make these characters into human beings and spend time with them,” Jenkins told Crosswalk, comparing the character development in The Chosen to that in Downton Abbey or “any other show that people binge-watch.”

Kathleen Nett, RIP

Kathleen Nett obituary.

Kathleen Nett
Kathleen Nett

Kathleen Patrice Nett
October 7, 1959 – August 5, 2020

Kathleen Patrice Nett, age 60, of Plano, Texas was born on October 7th, 1959 in Grand Junction, Colorado to surviving parents William E. and Terry Malone of Englewood, Colorado.

Kathleen’s greatest treasure was her role as Mimi to 5 year-old grandson, Jeremy Bagwell.

Kathleen excelled at school and met lifelong friends at Richardson High School and Baylor University where she graduated in 1981 with a BSN, RN. She then began her career as a nurse, which started her lifelong calling of helping others.

Soon after, Kathy and Doug would meet at a church dance and eventually get married in 1987 at All Saints Catholic Church in Dallas, Texas. They began their married life in Carrollton, Texas where they would settle into their first home together and bring Hailey home in 1995. With her brother and sister in the neighboring city of Plano, the Nett’s moved to Plano in 2008 and all 3 siblings lived within 5 minutes of each other. This meant family dinners happened often and saved seats were common for Mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.

Kathleen spent much of her free time volunteering with various support groups. She loved spending time with her many friends; attending regular Bunco games or meeting the ‘Mum Moms’ for dinner long after their kids graduated.

She is survived by loving husband Douglas A. Nett, daughter Hailey E. Bagwell (Trevor), siblings Kevin Malone (Renee), Maureen Malone, and William E. Malone, Jr. Kathleen was cherished by her four nieces and nephews, Courtney Schmitt, Jeff Malone, Daniel Malone, and Sarah Malone.

She was preceded in death by youngest brother Kelly G. Malone and eldest sister Josephine E. Malone.

A visitation and Rosary will be held Sunday, August 16, 2020, 3:00 – 6:00 pm at Allen Family Funeral Options, 2112 W Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, Texas, 75023.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am (CDT) on Monday, August 17, 2020, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas 75023. The Mass will be Live Streamed at the link below:
https://youtu.be/XaWpONeA0r

Following Covid protocol, facial masks will be required during both services; the viewing / Rosary and Mass. No reception will take place after funeral Mass.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations, in Kathleen’s name, to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Pulmonary Hypertension Association.

Next JJJJ in 2020 – Cancelled

JoJo’s July Jamboree 2020

The next JJJJ preliminarily scheduled for July 2020 has been cancelled due to the conronavirus.

March 26, 2020

Hello Wonderful Cousins!

I pray that you all are healthy and enjoying your family time at home. In light of the uncertainty of the upcoming months, the plans for the 2020 JoJo July Jamboree has been cancelled.

A good idea is to have mini family reunions in the meantime.

I highly suggest making contact with the Aunts and Uncles as they were really looking forward to seeing all of the nieces and nephews.

If you need their phone numbers let me know. My Dad, Uncle Jim Goethals, is doing well. He is staying with Sally right now and well fed!

God Bless,
Carrie Frain

We are starting to talk about a possible JJJJ in 2020 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Cheyenne Mountain Resort (CMR) – Yelp | TripAdvisor | Google

Possible Date?

Thursday – Sunday, July 23-26, 2020

We need to hear from family members if they are interested in attending, and, if so, how many people age 18 and older might attend, so that we can discuss whether to move forward.

In 2020, Sally and Carrie contacted CMR and negotiated a rate of $229 + $24 resort fee & tax per day. We need to reserve a minimum of 10 rooms, and each family can put down one credit card to reserve rooms for their clan.

Let us know of your interest: contact Sally, Carrie, and Chug at
jojojulyjamboree -at- gmail

In 2015, the contact with CMR had a room block reserved that totaled 80 room nights (Thursday 20, Saturday 30, Sunday 30). (For 2020, we were considering a room block of 15, 25, 25.)

Please note that CMR is under new ownership – Dolce, owned by Wyndham, a timeshare company….

The $24 daily resort fee covers self-parking, unlimited wifi, in-room coffee and tea, tennis on any of CMR’s 17 courts, and access to fitness and workout facilities.

Triple B Ranch is availble both Friday and Saturday nights for a family BBQ.

After we determine if the JJJJ 2020 should go froward, more details will follow, and we will then be looking for volunteers to organize and coordinate activities!

Preliminary planning for

Family Dinners
Evening dinner at Triple B Ranch, Woodland Park
Possibly another evening dinner TBA

Possible Events
Amazing Race Scavenger Hunt
Poolside happy hour Sunday afternoon/Monday afternoon
Poker Night
S’mores and Drinks fireside each evening
Daily Rosary
Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church
Sunday brunch at the Broadmoor? (some folks did that in 2015)
Butte Opera House matinee and explore Cripple Creek
Golfing
White water rafting
(CMR Resort has various amenities: tennis, sail boats, kayaking, beach, pool, fitness gym)
